How to Secure a Twitter Account
1. Secure the associated email
2. Have the email changed to yours Here
New logins can't do this for 48 hours, you must ask the old owner to do it.
3. Change the password Here
Login and change the password.
4. Remove the phone number Here
Changing will make you enter a waiting period, remove it and add later if needed.
5. Clear all sessions and revoke app permissions Here
6. Enable Password Reset Protection and 2FA Here
7. Download your data Here
Optional step to check the OGE and previous account history, it takes 24-48 hours to download.
Additional Tips
- Don't change the Birthday as it can lead to locks.
- Don't change the username, you will likely lose it to a bot.
- All usernames under 5 letters are unswappable.
- Confirm the OGE by comparing the Twitter creation date with the first email.
